Yesterday was the Second Annual Heller Cup! I had the honor of taking pictures and keeping score again this year, and the competition was just so fun! Heller Motors and Heller Ford rounded up their best golfers to play in the tournament, and the day and weather was perfect. The tournament included 27 holes of golf, and the winners were awarded the Heller Cup at the end. Last year, Heller Motors (Greg’s dealership) won 58 to 50, and they got to keep the cup at their store for 2017. If you would like to see the post on last year’s Heller Cup, you can see it here.
So this year, tensions were high. Heller Motors wanted to keep their title, and Heller Ford was out for the win! Heller Ford even had a team practice on Thursday, and the guys at Heller Motors had tried to get a round in during the week, too. As, the tournament kicked off, all of the guys brought their A-game. Heller Ford came out really strong on the first hole and almost swept it completely, but then the score was tied or extremely close all day. After 10 holes the score was Heller Motors (grey) 21.5 and Heller Ford (navy) 20.5. After 18 holes the score was 34.5 for Heller Motors and 37.5 for Heller Ford. Heller Ford had pulled ahead with a three point lead going into the break, and both teams were ready to strategize and refuel for the last 9 holes.
Each team repaired their players, and the competition really heated up. Heller Motors knew they had to make up some ground, and Heller Ford knew they were going to have play consistently to stay ahead. Each hole during the last 9 posed a special challenge. It was really warm out, and each team had to keep their focus. After hole 23, it really seemed like Heller Ford was going to win. They had been consistently leading since hole 18. Then, after hole 25, the score was tied! It was a total nail biter and really came down to the last 2 holes. Finally, in an amazing comeback, Heller Motors won 55.5 to 52.5 and…
the guys of Heller Motors were named the champions of the 2018 Heller Cup!!!
