Time management can be really hard. There is just so much to do and see and accomplish in one day! Plus, we all still want to fit in a little fun. We all want it all, and I just think that is so amazing.
It is so special that we are given this life, and most of us just want to grab on to every moment and accomplish every goal. It’s just that doing it all can feel overwhelming or we try to do it all, and it doesn’t work out because we just don’t feel like we have the time. That is why time management is so amazing. It enables us to do what we really care about, spend time with those we love most, and complete the tasks that make us feel fulfilled.
Time management has always been key for me. I have to have a time management plan because I don’t want to miss a moment when it comes to work, spending time with Greg, my master’s, getting my workout in, and our hobbies! I have used these time management tips for a long time. They helped me so much in college when I was working a ton and student teaching, and I think they help me even more now.
It’s just 3 tips, too, because efficiency is the key to good time management. The simpler you can make it, the better!
Tip 1: Use a Planner – I have used a planner since I was in kindergarten. It was something we had to use and bring home, and I am so happy that habit was developed early. I love having a physical planner. Each week I write a goal for the week. Sometimes the goal is health related like spending more time on abs at the gym, and sometimes it is doing well on a classroom observation or getting an A on the weekly quiz for my masters. I also choose a quote of the week because I think quotes are motivational and can provide vision/direction. Then, I plan out what I need to accomplish each day. This includes what lessons need to planned, what I need to grade, bills that need to be paid, blog posts I will write, and homework assignments that I have due. As I complete the tasks I cross them off because it is so rewarding to draw a line through them! This Planner has so much room for writing, and there are little quotes, and stickers in it! Plus it’s super girly and fashionable. I also love to write in colors with these pens. I can’t always commit to color coding, though. lol
Tip 2: iPhone Timer – So, you know the little clock on your cell phone? I am in love with the timer feature! If I have a lot to get done, but only a certain amount of time to do it, I set the timer and work, work, work until the timer goes off. I think this trick is most useful for getting my workout in every day. I wake up at 5:15, head to the gym, and set the timer for 50 minutes. I do as much as I can in that time, and when the timer goes off, I’m done. I also do this for cleaning my house! It totally keeps me moving and focused on the task I need to complete. I have the rose gold iPhone, and love this case for it.
Tip 3: Prioritize – Time management is just one step at a time. The items at the top of my list, I complete first. If I don’t have time to do something a day, I know it is because it wasn’t near the top of my list, and so I don’t think about it because it’s a waste of energy then. It will get done the next day or another time. This is usually stuff like folding laundry. It can wait; our work clothes are dry cleaned anyway!
So, there are my best time management tips! I hope they can help you feel amazing and take advantage of every special moment!
