We had to best weekend! We drove down to Southern Illinois on Friday night for Greg’s registration for his bass fishing competition. We got dinner and had the best time hanging out in our hotel room! On Saturday, we woke up at 4am so that Greg could get ready for the day ahead and be at the boat launch by 5:30. He was stocked with his tackle box, favorite fishing poles (including my lucky pole), water, and granola bars. He was super excited for the day of fishing, and neither of really knew what to expect. He was paired with a boater, and they fished together for the whole competition. Greg was in the co-angler division and his partner was in the boater division.
While Greg fished, I worked on some of my homework, had breakfast in bed, and took the most refreshing shower in our hotel room. I also go to get ready for the day, which is one of my absolute favorite parts of staying in a hotel. I, then, went to meet Greg. I got to the lake early and brought him a coffee from Starbucks because I knew he’d probably be sleepy from his long day of fishing! I was so excited to see him, and when I asked him how it went he said, “pretty good.” Then, I saw his fish, and there was three of them and they were the biggest bass I had ever seen! It was really exciting, and it was even more exciting when he went to weigh them, and they totaled 11lbs. 4 oz.
Greg won second place, and he won a trophy! It was so much fun being there, and our drive home was even better because he was so happy!
Here is the little video from his competition!
